In The Kitchen Today

All that jam making Alf,it'll come to a sticky end.

We made some Blackberry and Apple the other day, nice change from the commercial products from the shops.

Sounds lovely Alf. I hope to make some Ginger Marmalade. It's so expensive in the shops. Just small jars which you can eat in a few days. Your jam set up is perfect. I love Brambly type jams.

I have just bought my first bread making machine and have made one loaf so far. The machine came with lots of recipes so I have my work cut out.
Anyone got any tips. This is a Cuisinart brand which seemed to have good reviews.

I am making homemade New England Clam Chowder today. The tinned type has hardly any clams or any other ingredients for that matter. It used to be much better a few years ago.

Alf that looks tasty. I do love marmalade Jennyann and used to make it but no one else likes it so I don't bother. Stick at it with your bread maker they are brilliant. I make my pizza dough and doughnut in mine. Take care. Jean.

We've had a bumper crop of plums this year - my wife picked about 25 pounds yesterday and there's lots more to come. I'm going to make a few jars of Chinese plum sauce...mmmmm....oooohh.

Our apple trees are loaded too.

Only complaint is that the rotten slugs have ravaged our herb-garden.

Big Gee

Hi BG, not barry gibb isit, with all this wet I expected to see loads of slugs, I hate them, but I have seen very few this year mind the way I have
packed in the plants this year there can not room for them.Something has
bitten holes in my gerraniums leafs which is unusual, mind you I have had
some really beautiful ones this, year and I couldnt give the damn things away
at the car boot! at Lichfield.Bye for now Bernard

You can make it for me anytime Jean, I absolutely love marmalade on toast.

I used to make the Seville Marmalade for many years in February or thereabouts when the Seville oranges appear in the shops. Thanks
for the encouragement Jean about the bread maker. There are loads of recipes in the book that came with it. I will try the pizza dough very soon.

Used to make Marmalade, but as only I eat it, I buy Roses Lime Marmalade. I have been looking for Damson Jam, which I love but can't seem to find any. Has anyone a recipe for a couple of pounds of jam, as it is only me that eat it. Miriam.

Hello Dave Riley. Have just visited the www. you sent. After having a peep. I am delighted with it. Thank you so very much. Miriam.

A gift from my neighbour this morning. Have just stewed some and put it in the freezer after cooling it. Jean.

Hi Jean, have we conbined "in the garden with "in the kitchen now then, been an awlful day again, that strong swirling wind is back, knocking every
thing about,am listerning to the "BGees tonight, a CD of their No;1s,have
been a fan of theirs for many years, Enid loved Cliff and saw him several
times, he is too sugarery for me! Take care then Bye Bernard

Going to a BBQ at our sons shortly and this is my little contribution. Was doing bomaby potato's but didn't get round to it. Not to wory eh. The weather is perfect for it warm with clouds. Not too sunny for the cook. Jean.

This is a message for Alf who told me to make sure I looked after Pete while he was poorly. This is what he has just consumed and he had two bowls of Irish stew yesterday. I have also cooked a small chicken to cut up on crusty rolls for his supper with of course stuffing. Please excuse the spilled gravy and notice I took too as I forgot his parsnip on the first. I made my gravy stock from a chicken frame. Make sure we have our five a day. Jean.

Jean - Just what the Doctor ordered - a Sunday Dinner every date!

Just had our new Top Oven Door fitted. Miriam.

Well Miriam Pete had his chicken and stuffing for supper and more of the same tomorrow. Then afraid it's our funny food after that. You must give it a try as I remember my mom many years ago saying she would never eat Indian and Chinese food but after giving it a go she loved both. His favourite is sausage two eggs chips and beans or an all day breakfast. Jean.

Hello Jean. Al loves an All Day Breakfast too, but we are both of the same mind - 'funny food' is out. Just lately I have made a stir fry with , onions, stir fry veg. Red pepper and may be a little chicken and a tin of tomatoes - that's as far as I go!!! Not very enterprising is it - don't think I will ever be a Master Chef!!!! Miriam

Haddock & Chips tonight for me.

Not from the Chip Shop its 3 miles away.

My Lamb Hotpot was lovely last night

Miriam, you sound just like us, nothing unusual or too fancy, just good old plain cooking..blimey we must be getting old I reckon.

Enjoy your Haddock and chips Alf, sounds good to me. We've got Haddock fish cakes, with mash, carrots and sprouts.

I was going to have mash with my Haddock but Bev said you haven't had Chips for about 3 weeks and that did it maggs, no we are not getting old just eating good food.

3 of my Lads won't eat Fish

Love haddock too Alf and Pete had his chicken dinner tonight piled up on his plate as usual. I have a fraction of what he eats. Made some shortcake biscuits the other day too. Jean.

Since I retired in 1995 I have done all the cooking, I dont know about anyone else but I always cook the veg in the steamer, once you find out
how long things take, it does them fine.My niece Pauline has been to
lunch a couple of times, she likes her food. Paul,my son is here tomorrow
its either liver and onions, or bangers and mash, hope he isnt late, I am
at the hospital, 2.30 for chest Xray, 3.30 my knee man Mr Geutjens
Bye for now Bernard

I don't know where else to post this.
For anyone who is trying to lose a bit of weight, this means you can still have a slice of cake. It is also animal friendly.
