IN OUR GARDENS 2025

these are persian buttercups... at first i put one in each basket to hang over my fences then found out that will do better in a larger pot with more depth to it so i transferred them into one large pot...now i have to buy some basic bedding plants for the baskets..

Wasn't sure whether you had sent away for them or got them locally. We have several garden centres nearby such as Dobbies

No idea what plant this is, I'm sure someone will tell me! Planted by a previous occupant. It's a tree size, this is the flower, and it has the most fragrant perfume. Such a drab flower seems there could be a moral there somewhere!

From the leaves I would have said some variety of camellia but I'm not sure as they usually have showy flowers. They are in flower now.

Hi Lynn, Thought I would let you know we bought some Ranunculus the other day. Already established and in bloom, Of course as usual didn;t stop there and now bankrupt
thats great....let us know how they get on please....easy to get carried away in a garden centre :D

Worked in garden on Thursday amd cut down some branches from the mahonia. Lets more light in, means bird feeder hangs straight and leaves next doors fir tree alone
Took these pictures
The snake's head fritillary are in the planter but seem to have been moved by, I suspect, a squirrel as I put them at the front of the planter

My,we had some rain last night down here in South West, garden pond went from about a foot below it's normal level to full to brim. Refilling aided by the water diverted from the downpipe on a conservatory using a device meant for water butts but adapted with a 7m length of plastic corrugated tube that routes the water into the pond.

Wasn't sure where to post this but is as a result of last year's garden thread so here goes

Last year I referred to some poppies in my garden and over on the fields (different thread https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/threads/windermere-rd-park-ground-saved.47710/).

Notsharp (Steve) kindly posted me some wild poppy seeds he had collected. I decided to try to start some in the house before, hopefully, transferring some to my garden and some to the fields.
This is the result so far

I sowed 2 trays but the other is way behind for some reason. So thanks a lot Steve - I will be potting some on soon and then putting some outside. I still have some left which we might just sow into the meadow we have created.
An update. Some seedlings have now gone over the road into Windermere fields meadow (different thread) but some were transplanted and grew larger. These are now in my garden.
