Did any body remember the hot potato man in Navigation St

Every Sunday me and my two brothers used to visit our aunt who had moved on to the new pool farm estate it was a lovely estate at the time country side all round. We used to catch the 45 bus from Navigation Street on our way home we used to have a bag of hot potatoes there was always a piece of coke in the bottom of the cone bags .

When we moved to Nechells 1963 we used the club in Revesby Walk got to know people and one was this potato man his name Ricky Verrecky? dont know the correct spelling, well you can imagine what i said to him.
he told me he put the coke in the bottom to keep the potatoes warm.
we all had a good laugh, and every time we saw him in the club, his nickname was Winky :)
