Help With Rellies Seamans Records

Have found what Lynne did - she changed the search index to Australia. That then gives you entries for Enos - some you can see as they are on external websites and some you can't as they need a subscription.

ahh so thats what lynne did janice...thanks for that and also info on zillah will need to try and confirm her marr in scotland as we know not all family trees are correct...need to write all this down asap before i forget it all

I agree on the marriage - I did try to search but Anc keeps giving me errors - think too many people on at the weekend!! Anc doesn't seem to have many records for Scotland - other sites seem to need credits and you can't just buy the odd one or two.
Hope you didn't get wet shopping.

for the the day now so i have got time to concentrate..just written down all the info so far..think i know whos who now...the woods are our moms side of the family and she would have loved to have known that her rellies were on the ships as she had a fascination for the sea and ships..

I have a worldwide sub, but did not change to Australia (stupid!!) . This gives electoral roll entries for Enos:
two in 1925 (?) up to 1972. Also a link to a website about his grave (died June 26 1073). Looks like you can download the whole immigration index for queensland 1922-40 from https://data.qld.gov.au/dataset/immigration-1922-to-1940, will e-mail you the electoral rolls, though they do not give much info

mike if you are stupid then so i am lol...mike you have posted the sailing record not the grave record..thanks everso for emailing me the e rolls as every little helps...

lyn

Being nosey - did the e roll contain a possible wife?
Lyn the grave reference is on Anc and can be seen - Zillah Baigrie (possibly Wood) is buried in the same graveyard.

just going to check my emails from mike re the e rolls..will let you know janice...thanks for the grave info..

just looked at the e rolls mike sent me janice...seems that enos lived alone no sign of a wife..in the early years he was a farmer...so he went from working underground to working on top of the land...

Thanks for the update. I did a check on Zillah Baigrie - her husband died of war wounds in 1918 and his service record is on Anc but, annoyingly, it doesn't give her maiden name or marriage date. Her husband William was a coal miner! Still can't find their marriage record though to see if she is connected. Also can't work out what happened to Alfred after the war.

Lyn
It looked to me as if they did not group households, just listed names in alphabetical order, so there might be others

thanks janice i did wonder if zillahs hubby died as a result of the war...so her hubby was william baigrie...unusual surname..not surprised he was miner..will try and find his war records then..seems we are stuck on finding that marriage

mike it looks like that to me as well..not like over here where all the household members are listed...

Zillah Baigrie (if she is the right one) is on the e rolls - I can see the records but can't access them. Wonder if she lived with Enos? Her husband was a Gordon Highlander - his conduct record is interesting + some correspondence as he seems to have been listed dead by accident at one point before he did actually die.

it is possible she lived with brother in law enos janice...not looked williams records yet but his effects were left to wife zillah..hubby william was a sergeant

just having a look at williams army records..when he joined in 1907 he is down as not married..see what you mean..they have him down as kia aug 1914 although he was in hospital..he survived then was sent back to fight but was then KIA 1918

Zuillah on the rolls almost followed Enos except that she was in Cabooture in 1943 rather thsn the 1949 that enos was there. she does not seem to have the same address though. will send the scans to you Lyn

SORRY, WAS LOOKING AT WRONG COMPARISON.

Sorry was looking at wrong comparison. At first she may have been with Enos

wow thats great mike...many thanks to you and janice for all this help...cant keep up now

Lyn have you seen his admission to the Clowne Board Mixed & Boys National School? It gives his date of birth as 1 June 1886. He was admitted 7 June 1993 by his father Timothy Wood, address Mt Pleasant. He left on 30 June 1999 to pit work.

I spotted the record and that of his brother Alfred but could not read them as I don't have a subscription to FMP. Apologies but should that be 1893? All adds to the picture doesn't it.

The tree on Anc suggests they married in 1913. It is definitely his widow who emigrates as the address matches but we have no definite link to the Woods. You said Enos was a farmer - was it poultry?

no idea janice..the e rolls just says farmer...to be honest i have not had chance yet to look for the marr of zillah wood to william baigrie..will look for that next..if she married in 1913 she should be on the 1911 under wood..

The reason I said "poultry" is that is the occupation Zillah Baigrie gives on the sailing records when she made a visit to England in 1951. She also gave 2 addresses in Yorkshire - family?? There don't seem to be the marriage records for Scotland on Anc for post 1910.
