If anyone could help please with any information regarding the attached photograph, i.e. roughly what year this picture would have been taken, any information regarding HMS Hotspur etc. Many thanks. I know this young man (who looks far too young to be serving in the navy!) is one of my ancestors and need help/clues into seeing whom he may be.
Thanks for link Alf. However this battleship was launched in 1936 and I think this photograph is much older than that. It was in a collection of very old photographs of my dads. It certainly looks a lot older than photographs of my dad taken around that time whilst he was serving in WW2
Were new battleships perhaps named after older ones no longer in service?
