That's Great thank you. I wonder how the courtyard was arranged ? and which building exactly was 2 Court 1 as its not shown. I have always wondered if this photo from the archives online is roughly in the location of 193 as its labelled back of Gower Street & Guilford Street. Again Thanks for your help

House 2 court 1 is shown. Below I have marked it in blue on the earlier map

I think 2 Ct1 would actually be the back2back behind No. 191 on the map.

EDIT: I've just seen Mike's post above, that's the problem with using an iphone.

The archive picture certainly seems to be in the right area judging by the chimneys but as they are 3 storey houses it probably shows houses in the range of Nos. 175 to 185, although I would still have expected to see part of Nos. 191 & 193.

Tantalising aerial view fron 1950 but unfortunately insufficient detail.

Post #629. If the labelling on that photo is correct, it's reasonable to think that the photo was taken from the back court of 187-189 (position in red) after those houses had been demolished. Shop and neighbouring Gower St house roofs in the background.

Banjo - Thanks so the colour photograph shows the rear of 191/193 and the rear of the shop on the corner. The Houses on Gower Street had extensions on the back but it looks like just at ground floor. Thanks
