Could be promising. At least it's now being seriously looked at.
jan no one more than i would be happy if this wonderful building was saved...a few years back i contacted the council a few times but received not one reply so as you say fingers crossedTrue Lyn but I can't imagine Historic England would pledge money if they didn't think there was some hope for the future.
So fingers crossed.
viv it working for me click on the link again and just scroll down a bit and hopefully the video will show on the right hand side. it will be small but you can make it full screen..let me know if you get itThanks Lyn, video isn't opening for me. Wonder if it's available somewhere else ?
thanks viv slightly different to the one i posted but it does show the inside of the pub...having now seen these videos i just cant understand why for over 20 years or so its been left to rot...this now looks doable to me but they need to get their fingers out and quickNo still no joy. But I've looked on Friends of the Golden Lion page on Facebook - there's another one from 2016, not sure if this is the same
I can't answer your question but....I live in the same ward as Cannon Hill Park and the newsletter of one of our councillors has this:Anyone heard if there's any progress on this ?

thanks jan...we have lost many fine building over the years but to lose this one would be catastrophic...all we can hope for is that the recent push to save the golden lion has not come too late..keeping everything crossed...thanks for the photos viv for me its really not a case of if its saved it must be savedI can't answer your question but....I live in the same ward as Cannon Hill Park and the newsletter of one of our councillors has this:
Get involved with looking after Cannon Hill Park
The fledgling new and revitalised Friends of Cannon Hill Park group will hold their second meeting on Wednesday 28th February 6.30pm at The MAC. With the recent announcement of Historic England funding towards restoration of The Golden Lion inside the park but also the looming cuts to council services and staff, community involvement is all the more important to make sure we shape and maintain our open spaces and parks for the future.
