Galloways Chemist

Was looking at those interior photos on Facebook yesterday. Martyn Ingham, who posted them on FB, said his father was the pharmacist at the chemist. Maybe that was him with the glasses and white coat. No date was given, but they look about early 1960s. They look well before 1971 when the whole corner was demolished. Lovely set of photos, lots of detail and information about a service that has significantly changed today.

The interior views 2, 3 and 5 must have been of the photographic section of the business, while view 4 looks like the pharmacy section.

A time when photography was tremendously exciting, interesting and rewarding. Waiting for your transparencies or print films to be returned and hoping that there would be some good shots amongst them. It's a shame that so many of the the digital images captured now are destined to be lost.
