Does anyone know of a book or any other way i can find out about the Birmingham Foundlings? There are plenty about London homes but i am having trouble finding out about the B'ham ones .Thanks.

This link will take you to information about the workhouse in Birmingham and there is an e-mail address where you may be able to find out more information from the website owner.

There are various references on the website which you can make a note of and it states that the Birmingham City Archives also have some information and they may be worth an e-mail too.

There is also a mention of parish registers from the workhouse in the archives so you may be able to find out more personalised information from this.

Birmingham City Archives e-mail archives1@birmingham.gov.uk

Another website with a lot of information which may be more what you are looking for is https://www.workhouses.org.uk/

There is a book called workhouses of the Midlands by Peter Higginbotham Isbn 07524444883 published by Tempus Publishing.

Chapters include a History of the poor law and the workhouse and A guide to workhouse records and where you can find them.

Another website is www.hiddenlives.org.uk they also have information that may help you.

Hope this of some help
Louisa
