Does anyone remember the Thornhill family who lived at 95 and the present whereabouts of their two daughters (Joy and Ricky). They must be in their late seventies now. Ricky was a professional ballroom dancing
teacher and had a temporary teaching job in Cardiff in the early fifties. Any info would be appreciated.

Ray was there a Swimming Bath near?

I don't think its what you are looking for but Mom & Dad use to visit some one in Foden Road after the War

It is just passed the baths Alf. Pete's friends Ian Walton and Roy ????? live there. They bowled in our league. Can't remember Roys sir name at the moment though. Can't remember the Thornhill family though but could phone Ian and ask Ray.. TTFN. Jean.

Thanks for those who replied on Foden Road and for the information on the swimming baths. However, I am really trying to trace the Thornhill family who lived at 95 in the fifties. Their house was nearer the Beeches Road end by Tower Hill.

Ray have looked through the phone book but no one of that name I am afraid at that address unless they are ex directory. Jean.

Hi Ray,

Due to The Data Protection Act we are not allowed to give details of People who may still be living.

So I have sent to an I.M

Please reply via I.M

Not much use, but does give you a slightly later address for the parents
In 1950:
Thornhill Thos. Hy. 95 Foden rd
By 1956 no 25 had William Thomas living there. but there was :
Thornhill Thos. H. 53 Orchard rd. Erdington 24. Erdington 1323
He was there till 1969, after which it was occupied by Edmund Devlin

Bo,
Very many thanks for your info on Thornhill. They were certainly living on Foden Road in 1951 but may have moved some time after. The daughters may have since married
and changed their names. I will keep searching,
Ray

I lived at 98 Foden from 1948 to 1971. I remember Burdenshaw, Thawley, Burton (Burden). 95 was over the road and down a bit. It is the Foden on the Beeches Rd side. Cant remember Thornhill though.

No sorry I was too young and only really remember first names.....Aunty Rose Aunty Daisy, Mrs Russell. my nan owned the shop opposite frankfort st, and I only visited every week when my mom worked there.

But wil check with my Aunty Audrey when I see her. She was born there, also Uncle Gerard, Aunty Eileen all still alive.

thought i'd replied to this. Yes It was Burkinshaw I must have got name wrong. They lived over the road and down a bit. My mom was friendly with Mrs B. Disnt one daughter die young?

Yes Leonard she was my dear friend Joan. They were on our caravan site and Sue the other daughter was there untill two years ago. Sue and Tony still live in the mothers house. If you take a look on the Bank Farm thread you will see photo's of the family there. I put them on for Pam. Take care. Jean.
