fish and chip shops

Fish and chip shop in Birmingham rating by Birmingham Live, Bedders in 8th position !!!!!!!!????never (my opinion)
Used to use Yew Tree Chippy when leaving the pubs and Broadstone Chippy . Nothing like curry and chips in a tray or mushy peas pickled egg never fancied a gerkin though looked wierd. Plenty of salt and vinegar yummy i feel hungry now.

Does anyone know what has happened to the Chip Shop that was at the Yew Tree (Yardley)? It closed "for renovations" and we were told it would take six weeks. That was way back in February. In fact I think it closed way before that.
Hi, I appreciate that my reply is almost a year late(!), but the Yew Tree Fish Bar in Yardley is still closed - I really can’t see it ever opening again to be honest. It’s got to have been closed a good couple of years. Nearest chip shop to me now is the Cyprus Fish Bar in Wash Lane.

Best chips I ever had after a night on the town were from "City Fish Bar" near the Arcadian - it was one of the units that was taken on to become the National Trust's Back-To-Backs. I had mixed feelings - great restoration of heritage, but what about my chips?! City Fish Bar was nothing to look at, and a bit raucous at 1am in the morning on a Friday night, but they were fab chips (though after a 'few' pints my tastebuds may have deceived me!).

It’s quite amazing how a night on the drink can make a 1 star chippy taste amazing. That place doesn’t look very inviting from that pic though

I think a couple of swally's before chips adds a certain something to them

lyn
Sure do............my aunts Greengrocer/Fishmonger on Litchfield Rd in Aston had it all of the time. She used to make it for lunch, a quick hot fry, until I found out what it was. Then I got over it.
