Doris Gritton

Hi,

Does anyone have a Doris Gritton who at one time lived in Millhouse Road, South Yardley
in their family tree. I believe she died in the 1970s. As far as I know, she would have then been
Doris Baxter.

Kind regards
Dave

There is a Doris Gritton still listed at Millhouse Road in 2002/03.

She appears to be Doris Florence Gritton b1928, d2009, the daughter of Harry Gritton & Doris Partridge.

Hi MWS,

Many thanks for the reply. This clarifies that I was getting the details mixed up with another
Doris Gritton, - maybe a sister of Harry Gritton .

Kind regards
Dave

Do you know for certain she died in the 1970s?

The only one I can see is a Doris Gertrude Gritton (nee Hasler) b1902 d1979 wife of a Joseph Gritton, lived in Purefoy Road.

Hi,

No, when I Googled Doris Gritton , it came up with Doris Gertrude Gritton who died in 1979 at Solihull,, and I
wrongly assumed that this was the one that had lived at Millhouse Road. The reason for my search was that I
was going through some old metal detector finds recently, and I came across a little silver name plate which was
probably part of a bracelet, with the name Doris Gritton, and an address in Millhouse Road. As it was obviously
a good few years old, and was found several decades ago, I accepted that it was the one who died in 1979.
My interest is purely that I wanted to pass it on to any family member who would like it as a keepsake.
I guess that as I am now getting on a bit, it would just be thrown out when I go!

Kind regards
Dave

That would be a shame but sadly Doris doesn't seem to have had any close relatives. - unmarried, no children. She had two brothers who both died young and her mother appears to have died when Doris was 6 and I don't think her father re-married.

So closest relatives would be cousins or their descendants.

Hi,

Yes, I remember finding it in the park in Blakesley Road around 50 years ago
Just down the road from Millhouse Road. I used to find so many bits and pieces
in those days that I very rarely had a good look at them. I used to meet my
girlfriends in that park, and my wife lived just round the corner in Wash Lane - it
brings back a lot of memories.

Well, I just hope a relative sees this, and thanks very much for your help.

Kind regards
Dave.
