I’m still finding delays in between clicking on posts. It’s definitely still slower than normal for me. And erratic.

I agree. I would have thought that this might be influenced by the level of traffic. At present there are 486 plus 301 robots accessing the site and this at busier times goes up towards 1000 real people. But in the past it has been 1500 or more, with no slowing down.

There's loads of sites that are like that unfortunately, it's the state of the internet at the moment. There isn't much I can do. Everywhere is under attack

That's because other sites can use something called load balancing, this is where they have more than one server and they switch between it based on load.

Unfortunately we can't afford that at all and we do get a lot of traffic on this one but it would put the cost of running the site into the hundreds of pounds a month catagory im already propping it up as it is lol

hi warren just to let you know that the forum is even slower now...its taking us ages to get anywhere and make posts....thanks for any help

I have experienced the same problem for a while but this morning came straight up so whatever you have dome seems to have worked - Thamks
However, I do have another question. Of late, the size of the text has become smaller and because of sight problems have had to increase the size of all text to 125%. Not that that is a problem but just wondered why

Just for reference, I am connecting from abroad, (France), and have not had any of the speed problems being reported recently. Click, bang, there we are. I normally close tabs after use, so each connection is a new login. Moving around within the site is just as quick as the initial login.
Andrew.

Andrew. That is interesting. But for us there do appear to be odd periods when access is much better. Have you tried to access it at different times, or just the once?

there are php attacks right now on and off AI is attacking vulnrabilities everywhere, nearly all core websites went down the other day to fix flaws.

Sadly these are the battles we now have to deal with.

all we can do is patch things, and keep backups for when the inevitable happens, i might bring things "back in house" in the future if i get the time

Yes, these recent news stories about PHP are indeed concerning, I too have noticed how slow the site has been this last few days, do other services share the server?

In view of the recent forum slowness and the concerns about PHP and of course assuming the forum is in a safe pair of hands, are backups are off-site and have been test-restored.

When you say “i might bring things "back in house" in the future” are you now using a hosting service?
