MWS when walking from Harding Street which was my sisters house the street didn't look that bad when you knew you were heading to the pubIt looks a bit grim.

Viv I used this pub in the 60's and I can't ever remember seeing that on the wall when I went in or out it may have been possible inebriation I'm sure I would have remembered though .Nice one Mike I've sank a few in there
Viv, I believe they were a marker for a stirrup pump station in case of fire in WWIIWhat did those white painted circles on a stick mark - under the arched filled in feature on Don Street. Was it for a water hydrant ? Photo could be 1950s (?) So was this leftover from WW2 ?
