Some housesin Don St were renovated at one time

It looks a bit grim.

MWS when walking from Harding Street which was my sisters house the street didn't look that bad when you knew you were heading to the pub

What did those white painted circles on a stick mark - under the arched filled in feature on Don Street. Was it for a water hydrant ? Photo could be 1950s (?) So was this leftover from WW2 ?

Viv I used this pub in the 60's and I can't ever remember seeing that on the wall when I went in or out it may have been possible inebriation I'm sure I would have remembered though .

Viv, I believe they were a marker for a stirrup pump station in case of fire in WWII
