Have just been reading a review of a book which tells the life story of the much loved John
Le Mesurier. John died in 1983 after penning the following announcement to appear in the
"Times", John Le Mesurier wishes it to known that he conked out on November 15th, He sadly
misses family and friends. McCanns book is said to be a worthy tribute to a modest,much loved
much missed actor and will greatlyplease his legions of fans. Bernard

Made a note Bernard and shall give our library a try. Was he married to Hatti Jakes at one time?. Jean.
 
Jean he was married to Hattie Jacques and they had 2 children. They divorced after 15 years due to her having an affair. Ruth Jones is portraying Hattie in a TV play.
 
One of the saddest sights was in the later episodes of Dad's Army when John le Mesurier was obviously very ill, very gaunt-looking, and obviously struggling.

Jean I didnt even think he was still alive. But good luck to him if he is. He was profoundly deaf and had to lip read.

Hi Carolynn, you made it sound so simple, relationships never are, for quite a while during his
marriage to Hattie there was a cuckoo in the nest, she moved her boy friend into the marrial
bed and poor John slept in the spare bedroom, he married three times and had problems with
all of them, his third one had a fling with Tony Hancock, and he took her back without question.
Dont get me wrong ,I love women, but once they realise that they can wrap certain men around their
little finger they can, at times be cruel. Bernard
