DAVIS family - Annie and Ampliss

golfy

proper brummie kid
My grandmother was Annie Davis - I am trying to locate her birth (c1896) and who her parents were. I know that Ampliss was Annie's younger sister. They used to live in the Harborne area, I think around 1910 or so and Annie's mother used to take washing in to make money after her husband died. Annie and Ampliss used to deliver the clean laundry back to its owners. Does anyone out there have any ancestors called Ampliss? Its an unusual name. Any information greatly appreciated.

There are several Annie Davies births registered, there are two likely ones

December Quarter Stourbridge 1896 6c 194 Annie Eugenie
March Quarter Stourbridge 1897 6c 231 Annie.

If Annie was born in December 1896 she could possibly have been registered in 1897

You could order a certificate with the proviso that only if parents are Thomas and Alice, if you feel that it is your family. I can't find a registration for Ampliss, and I tried spelling the name in a number of ways.

Hi again,I forgot to say they were living at "Hawthorne" which I think was near to the Holly Bush Inn and just off the Hagley Road.
