I found this old post card in my late father's files - it shows a 'Coal Factor' in Birmingham called Jack King who was sending one (railway) truck of coal to a coal merchant in Bucknell, Shropshire in 1921.

My Step great grandfather was a coal merchant, living at 204 Pitsford Street, Hockley, Birmingham. His name was Ernest Alfred Worsey, and I believe his business was known as Worsey and Sons. My great grandmother died whilst they were living at this address in August 1900. Can anyone tell me what...

Lots of newspaper ads for the firm offering coal - truck loads, any station.

Went bankrupt in 1925, owner George William Alfred King of Brunswick Road. George was born in India.
 
There was a Kings Coal Merchant on Short Heath Road, Erdington just opposite Glendon Road. I have a recolection he moved to Dainsbury Cresent at some stage too.
 
The site of Soho Pool Wharf was previously used by Soho Manufactory which closed after the death of James Watt the younger in 1848, and was demolished some 15 years later. The Great Hockley Pool, by then renamed Soho Pool, was drained, and its site used for the LNWR's goods yard under the name of 'Soho Pool Wharf'.
