Hi from Australia. Looking for info for a Charles Thomas Clarke b 1861 Birmingham and died 1st Jan 1940 (knocked down in blackout by bus). In 1883 he migrated to Oz, married had one child (my grandmother). Family returned to Birmingham sometime before 1891 Census. Marriage broke up, in 1891 Census they are living apart. He is with his family at 57 Prescott Street and Elizabeth and Amy Clarke are at 25 Court Camden Street. Marriage broke up and Elizabeth and Amy returned to Australia in 1900 where they both had quite adventurous lives for those times, living in Nth Qld and Papua New Guinea. Trying to find out if he found a new partner/wife in Birmingham in those years. Nothing has come up on DNA data bases suggesting this. Was living with his brother when he died. Seems sad as he had 7 grandchildren when he died whom he had never seen.

Hi Daphnie - well done on starting a new thread.
Do you have an exact birth date for him?
If so we can look more easily on the 1939 register.
If not we can still search.
The name of his brother might help as well.

Is this him? Age slightly out and also says Thomas Charles but knocked down in the blackout January 1940

He doesn't seem to be listed on the erolls at that address. Neither does any other person with the surname Clarke.

He's at the Durham address on the 1939 Register listed as Tom C, with his brother (Victor) William.

Sorry, there is a William Clarke of the right age at 148 Durham Road. I didn't notice the different number, doubt he is the brother then as he dies in London.
