Christmas 2025 Greetings

well folks not that long to the big day now so wishing everyone on the forum a happy christmas..at the risk of boring you all :D i just have to post this video again which certainly reminds me of my childhood at this time of year

lyn

Thanks for sharing that one lyn, a super nostalgic look back at Christmas past. A lot of memory invoking images there of the things I remember as a kid. That giant illuminated S at the start and shop names long gone.

I remember that giant neon "S" for Schweppes sign. On the side of a tall building in Digbeth. - Didn't it then transform into a glass that would fill up? - As remembered in this thread...

i miss Brum at Christmas time
That's a really nice video of the modern Christmas market. Its interesting to think of someone in 2090 finding that video and it bringing back nostalgic memories of being taken to Birmingham Christmas market as a child in the same way as we look back at Lyn's posted video of Birmingham in the 1960s.

It's funny listening to Bing Crosby singing White Christmas, a song written in 1942 about Christmases gone by, and watching a video doing the same in 1963 and reminiscing in 2025...Many memories of Christmas in Brum (the best ones). Some not so good, like when the trimmings set fire to the curtains, started from the gas light. Nothing serious and didn't have to get the fire brigade.

To Lady Penelope the name brings back happy memories. I was walking my dog a long the towpath in Polesworth a couple of weeks ago when a narrow boat was mooring up and the name on the side of the was Professor Pat Pending. Lovely couple and great memory jogger .
