Well spotted Alf I never noticed the van, this was sent to me by a distant cousin I have found through my family history. He now lives in the USA the family name is Powers.

My Dad grew up in Chelmorton Road- I'm not sure when they moved there but he was born in 1945. My Nan lived there until earlier on this decade. The photo looks like it was taken on their side of the road.

My sister Marilyn Harding Married Rodger Cross who used to live at the top end of Chemorton Rd.I also remember the Ward family mainly Jean & Sheila Ward,I seem to recall that Sheila married Jack Crampton who used to live on the Beeches Rd just below the school,I would love to Know how life has treated them over the years

A distant cousin who now lives in the U.S. sent me this photo of 29 Chelmorton Road the family name is Powers.

Hi Wendy,
The name Powers dosn't ring a bell,I used to deliver news papers all over the Beeches in the 1940s for "Fanshaws" the news agents on Thornbridge Ave,I lived at No 5 Holmesfield Rd from 1934 till 1955 when I got married.

What a very good find...1950 when I was born and grew up in the very end house top of pic. No;58..corner house with Beeches Rd ,with the school and Sandy Lane opposite...I think the windows by the horses head should be No;44. Those grass verges would have disappeared in the early 60s when car ownership was on the rise. Thank you.
