Where about have they placed it, as there isn't any grass for it to go on?

"A Real Birmingham Family" seen outside of the Library of Birmingham, November 2014. Assume the plaque is back too?

Is the Library open again, last heard it was closed due to a broken glass roof pane needing replacing, or has that been done?

Ok the Library was closed on Good Friday.

Got these views today of A Real Birmingham Family.

Front view not visible yet.

Although I did walk along the path towards HSBC UK, too many fences in the way!

Good Friday update.

Tried to take over this railing near HSBC UK - couldn't get view through the railings.

I suspect that I may have witnessed a bit of robbing Peter to pay Paul today? I was in Pinfold St And watched as they
stripped the top part of a Information Totem that was at the bottom of Pinfold St, I do have photos of this event,
I then made my way to the Library as is my thing, While I was there (taking photos of the Trees being unloaded )
the lorry that was in Pinfold St turned up with the same top half of the information Totem , it was then unloaded ready to be placed on top of the base that is near to the Broad St roadway, I will have to have a look tomorrow to see if the bottom half of the information Totem is still in position ?

The last of the new lighting? post will be put into position tonight?, the problem is that they now make the square look cluttered, another photographer and my self were discussing how long it would be be before a numpty tries to jump from the third floor of the library to see if they can reach one one the lamp post as they do look very close (but they aint)

First question No I did not meet Metrogogo on the roof (he always post his photos the day after he take his photos )
I only know him be sight

Second Question I am rather protective with my photos I was quite happy to publish them on Flickr that was till I saw that there was a free software called Snapshot it sadly can copy any and I do mean any photo from the Web, this means that any numpty can copy a photo and what they like with it, so the decision was made to delete all of my photo, unless someone can come up with a way to protect them, all photos I take these day go to my archive the pity is that I nearly had Six Million views of my photos it would have been nice to have had the Six Million views (or more)

Did you meet "Metrogogo" at the Discovery Terrace? Why don't you upload your photos any more?

Photos from Metrogogo on Flickr.

I use Creative Commons licences. But don't think your watermarks really helped. And sites do "steal" our photos without our permission!

There is a thread here on the Flickr Help Forum to report image theft. Not sure how it works though!

It looks like Pixsy would only monitor 1000 photos and 10 take down notices.

They aint going to pinch any more of my photos as they have been deleted,

Did you delete your Flickr / cancel your pro account?

You could upload them directly to the forum instead?

Yes my pro account has been deleted, the problem with uploading to the forum is the photos can be stolen using the Snapshot software and I aint having that

The big problem there, HnC, is that no one anywhere will ever see your photographs. Alternatively, unless you have a bottomless pocket to take out endless copyright legal cases, there will always be someone who will infringe your copyright. And even if you had the resources to embark on endless court cases, is that the way you want to spend the rest of your days? It applies equally to music, painting & literature. Life is just too short in my opinion.

totally agree maurice...i have been posting my photos for years because i want to share them with the world and his wife...if i didnt want to share them then i would keep them to myself and would NOT post them anywhere on the net..i have found my photos posted on various other sites and forums most times with an acknowledgement from where they came from which is always nice to see but often no acknowledgement but hey who cares as you say life is just too short to worry about it

Any image which can be seen on a computer screen can be copied without using any fancy software it just needs a press of two keys. If anyone does not want an image to be copied then do not put it on any website.

With regard to Flickr and similar image storing sites from which pics are displayed on the BHF using 'hot links' the pics can instantly disappear if they are deleted from the image hosting site.

The effect of this can be seen in the 'Metro Work Begins' thread ... all of horsencart's pics regarding work on the Metro have disappeared and the links now just show a 404 error. Comments from other members posted about the pics now refer to non existent pics !

yes phil when images are deleted or go missing the posts made about them mean nothing and only serve to make for a messed up thread this is why we still strive to repost the images that we lost when the forum was hacked some years ago

The legend 'Posted on Birmingham History Forum' does not seem to appear these days. Is it because more of us are posting full size instead of thumbnail?

david warren would be able to answer that but i seem to remember him saying that the free trial for our water mark was over and would now have to be paid for...nothing to do with how the images are being posted..personally i liked having the water mark because people were curious as to what we were all about and led new members to join us :D only from memory i think warren said it was about £30 to £40 a year

Passing through Centenary Square after watching Tolkien at Odeon New Street. Took these photos of the new giant LED lampposts on the way!

From Centenary Way behind The Copthorne Hotel.

Near the Hall of Memory. More of the paving is open now.

totally agree with cllr moore on this one..yet again a total waste of money the city does not have pushing us further into massive debt..will there be no end to it i ask myself...of course not

The shame about this new development is that it changed what was an excellent open space, where the city could have exhibitions and events (and the Xmas market / big wheel / ice rink) to an area now so cluttered there is no room for anything.

Every city needs large open squares (look how much Trafalgar Square in London is used for various events) and now we really only have Victoria Square which is actually quite small and will be even smaller once the tram track is laid alongside it.

I took some photos of Centenary Square when I was up in Birmingham last Saturday
