CCSM ? Meaning

Hopefully, Janice. No one can give positive confirmation of a recognised custom or army protocol for the letter before CSM, so it seems to point to the possibility that there was no letter before CSM. And, after all, he was CSM in 1918, but stranger things have been uncovered on here !!

Thank you all for your help and suggestions, the date of the label/tag has to be after 1928, that is the year William moved to Elkington St, I asked his grandson if he could get a better view of the first letter (C) but he was unable to confirm due to the crease, I wonder if it is a printing error and should only be a single C ?, its a bit of a bugger but something may turn up one day , again thank you for your efforts
 
Not in the Army i served in
we had a colour guard that carried the colours
on parades and ceremonies
1 Coulour Sergent and 2 ORS One of them being myself
Back in the day the Ensign or lowest junior officer carried the Colours in battle
This is not the US Army we are talking about
ie a Command Sergeant Major
who carries the colours in the US Army
