Cheers folks, glad you liked them. Wish I could have dubbed some music on though.

I've just put an additional photo in that I accidentally missed in my upload (a beautiful fireplace). If you hit the link again you'll see it. So that's the third sorry. :playful:

Dave M - My tour was around 1 O'Clock. Going by the schedule I must have been in or around the second cohort.

Ray and I were there at about the same time, but as I posted in General Discussion (sorry wrong thread) we didn't want a tour of the gardens as it was raining so we just went round to the Hall and asked if we could pay there for the guided tour, a very nice young man named Chris, said he would take us round for free, he also took us round the bedrooms, all en suite, we were greatly impressed by everything we saw. We have wanted to see the inside of the Hall for over 40 years, and must say it was worth the wait. The bridal suite had a bathroom almost as big as our lounge. I asked for the menu and was surprised that you could have a set 3 course lunch with plenty of choice for each course for £22.95 which we thought pretty reasonable. I am hoping my son will take me tomorrow evening for dinner, if not I expect it will be for my birthday in December when the Festive Christmas Lunch is £19.95, if I don't go tomorrow I will ring and make a booking for my birthday - BTW Ray has agreed. The photos were wonderful, loved the ceilings and fireplaces.

I have just come onto this site by chance and was so interested to see Castle Bromwich Hall inside. We lived in Castle Bromwich for years and my husband worked in the gardens as a volunteer for years. I am trying to work out if this great House is now an hotel? It looks like it may be. Can you let me know. Do you know who owns it?
Thanks, WendyP

The Hall was bought by property developers Linda and Neil Chen. Other than that I know very little about them.

They set up the restoration of the Hall in close liaison with the National Trust and have spent an absolute packet bringing the place up to spec. If anyone saw the state of the Hall when it was bought, you'd be amazed how much has been accomplished in just under two years.

The hall is indeed hotel now, and was opened on Oct 1st as such. Here is the website: www.castlebromwichhallhotel.com

There are of course some who were unhappy that the Hall was being opened as a hotel, but the place was falling to bits where it stood before it was bought, with vandals throwing stones through the front windows.

The hotel also seems to want a good working relationship with the Gardens Trust. Both parties have tricky National Trust covenants to take care of, so that must be welcome. The allowing of the guided tours is an example of such goodwill, and last December the entire Hall and grounds were opened to visitors to show the restoration work in progress, and more recently the owners allowed the Trust's Oscar Wilde drama event to be staged in Hall grounds.

Best wishes

Graham

Thanks for posting Dave. I also went on this visit, and I've got some pictures lying around on a CD somewhere: I'll see if I can dig them up.

I can't remember my pics being anything like as good as yours though.

Cheers

Graham :)

It has just been anounced by ITV that Castle Bromwich Hall has been restored to it's former glory. I no doubt there will be a story about it on Midlands News today.Castle Bromwich Hall 1.jpeg Before Castle Bromwich Hall 2.jpeg After restoration.

Thanks for that info Bill: I'll keep an eye on the site. It's about time Castle Bromwich made a big deal of it's history in the public arena. If stuff like this gets the ball rolling I'll be very happy.
