Excellent - thank you!Geo Lingard was involved in a railway accident in 1873 - but doesn’t seem serious. There was also an Edward Lingard who was injured, possibly related ? Viv.

Well, as shown on the map on post 23, it is one of three houses. Below is a larger scale version. None of these three would seem very like the photo, so I am convinced it is not this address. In answer to your question, these houses were all demolished a while ago, and the block is now a row of relatively modern shopsThank you - Yes, I have that info, thanks, but I was hoping someone would link that address with the house name Rosedale, or just recognise the house as still existing.
Yes, certainly it's of family-history interest to me. Many thanks.Mrs Lingard had a lot of experience running schools/colleges. This must have been one of her earlier schools in Edgbaston. Sorry, not an answer to the original question, but might be of interest for the family history. Viv.
Interestingly an Edward Lingard Stevens is listed in 1897 Kelly's at Rosedale, St Agnes Road Moseley. (Is this a coincidence?) I have done a google "walk" and don't think the house is there. If Morturn sees this he might be able to see if there is a house still called that.
Thank you, and your wife, though I'm bound to say there is a very great deal of difference between the two houses. Of course it's hard to say whether or not a very large renovation, or more than one, took place in the interim, but if this IS the same house, every window has been changed (except perhaps the one over the front door), the attic so augmented as to be a whole extra storey, and more, plus of course the style has changed from modest Victorian to grander Victorian downstrairs and faux-Tudor above it. So I'm grateful but would be interested in how she worked out that this was it.My wife did some research on the house names in St Agnes Road and identified 39 as Rosedale. The house is still there today opposite the church. This is one of the phots she uncovered.

Yes - he was the grandson of George Lingard, so I'm pleased to learn that he was in St Agnes Road in 1897: thank you.Yes, I posted it to show the house Edward Lingard Stevens in St Agnes Road, not the house in question.
Hi Lyn - Actually I hadn't got round to searching for that, so thank you for giving me the information first! (It makes sense too, but also gives me a previously unknown address for them at the time of her death.)michael i am sure you must have this info but just in case...the probate for georges wife eliz ann lingard was 28th jan 1887 wife of george lingard late of the "firs" trafalgar road moseley..granted to the said george lingard of the firs...coffin manufacturer...estate was £903 12s 4d

There is some nice domestic architecture in that road. The front gardens generally extend quite a distance from the road whereas this house seems to have a smaller plot at the front.I have a friend in St Agnes Rd, I sent the picture to her and she is sure this house is in her road. She is going to take a walk down to it tomorrow
I thought that too. I also worked in this road for a few years and can’t say I can place itThere is some nice domestic architecture in that road. The front gardens generally extend quite a distance from the road whereas this house seems to have a smaller plot at the front.
