I used to shop there in the late 50s early 60s and I rarely went in by the front doors but by the back door in a passageway ,was that in Union passage? I remember you had to go down some steps as you went into the building.
Many thanks for all the replies, it would appear that the pic. I was referring to concerned the opening of the "new" store, this must have been just one of many "new" openings for C&A over the years. The att. shows the pic that I mentioned in my previous message.I am sure it was open well before 1971 as I remember going before then.
Isn't that New Street?Another earlier image of C & A Modes on Corporation Street in 1951 next door to the Odeon or was it still the Paramount then?

The cars parked along there would be worth a fortune nowIsn't that New Street?
I think the bird relates to Liverpool's Liver Bird symbol.A very striking advert announcing the opening of the Corporation Street store in 1926. Like the inclusion of the craftsman and artist. Not sure what the bird with something in it's beak on the shield represents.

Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings and funeralsIt is intriguing, to me and I am sure others on the Forum, what are the occasions when they are worn for 'best'?![]()
