Broughton Road, Handsworth

There doesn't appear to be a page dedicated to Broughton Road, where my father lived (a large house at no. 23) for some years. Today, Welford School is on that site. Am just hoping that members may have photos of that road!

Hello Richard, I am sure that houses in Broughton Road, including no. 23, were still standing in 1976. My father moved away from Broughton Road to council accommodation in Nechells by the end of that year.

alf as i said earlier it was only your dads side that was demolished...the other side is still there

Hello Alf, I grew up in Handsworth and those houses were there in the 1950’s which puts them at 75 years old. I seemed to think they were built in the late 20’s/30’s. Just curious, thank you!
