Hi Curly, I think Pat is my aunty, her brother, my dad, was called Denis and my mum was Betty. My grandad owned the glassworks next door to us.I remember going out briefly with a young lady (who I'd met at Rabone Chesterman, late'66/early'67) and who lived in Brougham St. I *think*/unsure/ her name was Pat, Irish, if I remember correctly. Sadly, being young and innocent, (before the testosterone kicked in) I'd said something which was misinterpreted, she told her brother and as a result, I got the old heave-ho! C'est la vie. I do wonder about her when passing that area (ah! - young love).
Jan 2015 - Found an old diary.......she was Pat Kelly @ 19 Brougham St

I saw a photo of our house, which was built over the Villa St post office run by Mr and Mrs Reeves, and next door to Singl etons where they made packing crates. I can't find the photo but if anyone has this picture, I really would appreciate it being posted again. The name plate is also visible.birminghamhistory.co.uk

Yes, same as mine. It could have been Father Dermot but I'm not sure.
Hiya BobS:My ex-wife went to the school at the bottom of Brougham Street. It was a catholic school run by nuns and she said they were all sadists and used to take it out on them for no reason at all!!BobS.
Ahhh Mr Woods lovely chap!Hiya BobS:
I went to St Francis school from 1960 to 1966, your ex wife is right to a certain degree, I can remember severe punishments being handed out for what were trivial offences by a couple of the nuns, but some of them were really quite nice to us. The same cannot be said of two of the teachers at that time they were little short of sadists. If they were to do now what they they did to us then, they would certainly be sent to prison.
What years did your ex attend St Francis, maybe I knew her.
Cheers mate

Hiya Lyn ! Long time no see.hi folks just a reminder that we are always looking for new photos of brougham street..thanks
lyn
ahh there you are dave...glad to see you back..Hiya Lyn ! Long time no see.
I remember those glass works so well. We kids were playing football in the street outside the works and I kicked the ball on to the roof. It didn't prove popular with the lads and I was elected, as the one who did it, to climb up and get it. Up I went up and chucked the ball down. I soon discovered though that I couldn't get down again. I lay on the roof and cried. I don't remember how I got down, clearly I did as I'm now here to tell the tail !!!Hi, unfortunately I don't have any photos, just happy memories x
