Birmingham Pubs

The mention of the Beer Keller brings to mind the one and only time I ever went in the place. Myself and half a dozen mates after a dock or two in Yate's Wine lodge left by the back door and decided to give the place a try as it had only just opened. We all had a Stein of (lager) each in reality one and a half pints in a litre glass, the first we had ever tasted, and honestly I think I was the only that liked it. The barman said you lads are the biggest crowd we have has in here so far, to which I replied I'm not surprised at 7/- a pint I think a pint at the time was about 1/11d.

A favourite place of my late Wife and I early 50's was the Bodega, cannot remember its exact location, near New Street I think. Thats were I introduced her to Pimms No ! which became her favourite tipple. Does anyone know where its exact location was ??? Eric

The only Bodega I know of is a Bar come Restaurant in Bennetts Hill..I'm not sure if its still there.

No, it certainly was not Bennetts Hill, it was not far from our Tram(3X)/Bus(39) stop in Martineau St. Postie sounds right, where is the Trocerdero ?? Eric

The Trocadero in Temple Street, a photo that looks like it was taken in the 60's. A pub for having a gay old time around those years.

old mohawk, I think that is the place (post 400) but it was 60 yeas ago so cannot be absolutely sure (my Wife would have known, she had a much better memory than me). I can remember having port and sherry out of huge barrels behind the bar - happy days gone forever. Eric

Hi, I'm trying to find a photo of the White Hart Inn that one of my ancestors (Samuel Twist 1818 Directory) was a licensee of. I can't get the link to work properly any more - please advise. Kind regards Amanda
Since a recent forum upgrade some links are directing to the wrong place. I have just searched for White Hart Inns on the forum and find two pics of the same pub but may not be the White Hart Inn you want.

Because the old link does not work I have deleted it in the old post and replaced it with a pic of the White Hart Inn Paradise Street.

I will keep searching but the post number #1186 in a thread may not be valid because some posts were deleted.
