yes I recon so, it did change its name in some records and is also shown as Upper Gaolford tooMort you show “Ludlow (Galford Road)” …could this be Gaolford ?
Herbert died in 1957, so both the houses stood empty for many years. There was a chap by the name of Joe Dainty who lived at the Pardoe’s property. For many years. The story’s goes he was left at the house as a small boy and the Pardoe’s gave him accommodation. He acted like a caretake for the houses until they were demolished on the 60’s. Many thanks for that snippet from the book, it generally fits the family stories that I know about. A couple of Pardoe lads married a couple of the gypsie girls from the caravan site too. Gypsies or travellers and traders seems to fit with a few other bits too. The boxing shed would have been for Tommy Pardoe.Hello Morturn, i got my Cress mixed up with Sage.
