Unfortunately it will be demolished. It was derelict for years. Thanks for all that work Janice. Quite a slog.
Well, there was obviously something very wrong when the 'archway' was removed/vandalised/demolished. Thankfully the front of the Infirmary has been spared. I take it this is the Nurses Home wings referred to. And are the buildings - blue dots - those that will be preserved ? We have some photos posted by zero I think.

Thanks. Saved me going back on planning siteUnfortunately it will be demolished. It was derelict for years.
It's the one in posts #61 and #116
It is such a sad loss of history. When I was walking through this and the other nurses home, it was like I was taking a step back in time to the early 1900's. You could still feel it in the air. Thanks zero.
Solid structures. Pity the buildings are going. In the bigger picture, and in the interests of preserving resources, you'd think the shell of the building could have been saved. Surely it would have lent itself to becoming apartments (and with historical interest). Am I surprised they're about to be demolished ..... no.

so very sad zero...what buildings were those and are they recent photos..thanks again for keeping us well updated even though as you say its very painful to seePainful destruction.

l I met you a few minutes ago outside the treatment center next to this building it's a shame it's not going to be saved as it could be converted into a really nice family home and it has so much history
Took photo's of these today, thought you might like the higher resolutionTwo surviving features of interest near the hospital entrance. The first is a gate column through which people passed towards the Archway of Tears. I suspect this must date back to the early days of the workhouse. And a wonderful victorian wall pillar box. You can just make out the 'VR' near the top. Lovely, a pretty rare find !

Photo taken today. It's quite worn down now.
have to say knowing the lack of interest and respect to our citys history it will probably be scraped along with the plaque to albert gill..sorry to sound so negative zero but a lot of us on here have over the years seen the destruction of so much history its difficult to feel posative...Who do you think will have ownership of that post box?
The post office?
