My great grandmother was Matilda Berrow (c1871-1907) married George Briscoe (1871-1909). Her parents were James Berrow (c1848-1900) and Rebecca Kean (c1850-1894).

Any info greatly appreciated especially info on children.

Thanks.

Hello Barbxxx, have you a brother who owned a shop, can't think of his first name, may have been Alan...Cat:)

Hi Barb. Welcome to the site. Is this the marriage for Matilda Berrow and George Briscoe? If it is, then we know where to start looking for children.

Marriages. Mar Qtr 1891
Berrow. Matilda. K.Norton 6c 645.

on the same page: Briscoe. George.

Barb. Do you have them on the 1891 census at 37 London (?) Street, Smethwick. They are both shown as 20 years of age. George is shown as a Galvaniser.

Yes Barrie, that's them :) I've ordered a copy of their death certificates in the hope that one of their offspring registered the deaths. I'm fairly sure that my Grandad wasn't an only child but I suppose I could be wrong :confused2:

Sorry Catkin, not one of my brothers. As far as I know, none of my cousins owned shops either.
