Oh my goodness Eric, those are wonderful pieces of art!couple of my early attempts at Aston hall and entrance gate many many years ago. Eric
I don’t think I remember the conservatory, was it removed at some point? Maybe it was so long ago that I don’t recall. The conservatory running alongside the Hall must have been where the exhibition was located (mentioned in post #182 - interior view)
Nor me but Vivienne said it was for an exhibition so I guess it wasn't there very long.I don’t think I remember the conservatory, was it removed at some point? Maybe it was so long ago that I don’t recall.
Thanks, it was there quite a few years then!I looked back and found some previous pictures and information about this "glasshouse" (1858 - 1924?) - on the earlier pages 3 (post #80), 7 (#182, #201) & 8 (#234 #239), as well as some other informative posts on this, on and around those pages. Hope that helps clarify a couple of points.
Astonian, I have a programme somewhere from the event. It was produced by a lady named Gwen Lally who Mom always thought was 'a bit odd', very dramatic and dressed like a man if I remember correctly.
Something that looks totally out of place in Aston Hall? This new work probably does merit a place somewhere, but I don't really think this is it.These are screenshots from YouTube, Webby’s Walks and The River Tame.
Here we pop into Aston Hall, any one know what this is ?

I was thinking the same thing! I wonder how much that thing cost? And if it’s not permanent will cast almost as much to take it away and remediate the site. Are there any suitable scrap metal merchants remaining around Aston?
It was a temporary sculpture in Victoria Square. It was outside the Town Hall from July 2021, but was relocated to Colmore Square by December (to make way for the Christmas Market). It then remained in Colmore Square throughout 2022 and was then moved to Aston Hall & Park, and it is now in Lady Holte's Garden. They can put it somewhere else now then?I've not seen Aston Hall for a while. The new addition is Luke Perry's 'Forward Together,' I wonder if it really will draw people together or be divisive? Is it intended to be permanent, I wonder?

Except those turnings would be shinyOh its a sculpture
looks live the scrap turnings after i finished using the lathe
Given the cities financial woes they should be very measured with expenditures toward necessary services like libraries etc.“They are seen working together to lift the city, symbolised by its giant coat of arms, to its full potential. Inspired by the city’s motto ‘Forward’, it brings together a collection of local people as steel silhouettes who are everyday yet extraordinary people.’
Perhaps the City’s motto should be changed from Forward to Bankrupt !
Thats more like itTook this picture of Lady Holte’s Garden 15 years ago, much nicer !
