Address plaques and nameplates for Terraces, Villas, Places etc

Gillott Road in Edgbaston /Rotton Park is a very long road with a fascinating mix of houses, some late Victorian with very elaborate stonework on lintels and window arches.

Gillott Road

85-87 Church Villas (part of the plaque is missing because of a new window. The building is opposite Christ Church).
452-454 Alexandra Villas
448-450 Carlton Villas
456 Sandringham 1882

Link road

18-20 Woodland Villas
39 Victoria Villas (on corner with Summerfield Cres)

However the 1888 map shows the name "Victoria Villas" was applied to the whole terrace of houses on that side of the street. I presume from the elaborate nature of the "Woodland Villas" plaque that the name probably applied to all the houses on the opposite site of the street.

One curious feature of this locality is the large number of old-fashioned "rooms to let" signs on buildings (for one example see the sign above the "Victoria Villas" plaque).
