Hi Lyn,

I hope you are well and thanks for getting back to me.

Most definitely look to save and restore the buildings. Would you be able to help me with who owns the buildings?

There is a site that I can’t locate at the moment, may have been Private Eye, where they have plotted “Who owns England.” I remember looking at Birmingham and seeing the huge amount of property owned by Offshore Companies. It was gained through Freedom of Info, will try to find.

Apparenttly a lot of land whch has never been sold for a long period of time is unregistered.
From "who owns England site"
To be clear, all this land is owned by someone – usually, the person or institution involved will hold paper deeds to prove their ownership. The ownership details just haven’t been registered with the government
So who owns all this unregistered land? By definition, we don’t know. But we do know that it hasn’t changed hands for years, and most of it is rural. So it is probably owned by old families or institutions: as Land Registry itself says: “Much of the land owned by the Crown, the aristocracy, and the Church has not been registered, because it has never been sold”.

registration of land on sale was not compulsory across England & Wales until 1990 (and on inheritance not until 1998)

I just assumed all land was registered but around 15% of the country isn't although the Land Registry are trying to rectify this.
