    IN OUR GARDENS 2025

It’s a poppy! I grew a few of these from seed but planted them in some pretty poor soil so the result isn't too good. However the one I planted in the front garden was beautiful but has now finished flowering but you can see the seed pods!

    IN OUR GARDENS 2025

Was met by a similar situation today except that fortunately my bowl remained in one piece as it landed on a fleshy plant. The bowl had been in place for over ten years so I think the sooner we catch the golden eagle or whatever the better!

    Itinerant photographers

John 6000. Sorry I have to disagree with your comments on these photos! Comparing them with my many pics from that era I would think that they ARE all dressed in their 'Sunday Best' the boys in their suits with starched collars and bow ties and the men in their suits and bowler hats with the man...

    Zipfell Martin

Richard Thomas Yates and Agatha Zipfell were my Aunt's (by marriage) Gt Gt Grandparents. I did some research on them some years ago but I suspect it was before BHF was hacked as I can't find the details now. However I have kept some photos but unfortunately can't remember where they came from...

    The Plough Shirley 1960s

Some years ago the pub part (which was once very busy) closed and the place was refurbished to become a Beefeater restaurant. Unfortunately the owners Whitbreads decided to close it around the middle of last year and use it solely as the eatery for the Premier Inn which is on the same site (not...

    Groups We Have Seen Live

Having just read about the passing of Laurie Holloway, pianist, composer and musical director, reminded me that I went to see his wife Marion Montgomery give a recital at the Birmingham Conservatoire, must have been 1980s or 90s. She is probably best remembered as resident singer on the Michael...

    Bookmarks - help

Thanks for your suggestion Janice. After some messing about I found that clicking my username in the blue band at the top of the page brought up the options 'Your Account' and 'Bookmarks' so all sorted now.
