    Townson and Coxson

I've had the following information from Companies House, about Townson and Coxson

    Townson and Coxson

Happy New Year to everyone. In my continued research on Military Field cooking equipment, I've been made aware of Townson and Coxson. According to Grace's Guide, they were Gas and electric fittings manufacturers of Essington Street, Birmingham. I'm told that they made and sold the American...

What might "Field worker" mean, for Triplex Foundary

I've had a response from National Archives. It should be Field Cookers, so there is some archive of Triplex

What might "Field worker" mean, for Triplex Foundary

I wondered if it's not just bad cataloguing, as in its former catalogue location there are only 2 entries. The second being Portable stoves by Turley & Williams, and R and A G Crossland. I've sent an email to National Archive.

What might "Field worker" mean, for Triplex Foundary

Triplex Foundry of Toll end, and later of Upper Church Lane started life a Horrell and Bowman - Builders and Builders merchants, also ironmongers. They made a Field kitchen for the army, which remained in service up to the 1990s - hence my interest. It's the one in the foreground, with oven and...

Quite a difference between Traveller and Sheet metal manufacturer

Turley and Williams, Ltd., locations - Originally of Reliance Works, Green Street, Deritend, Birmingham.

Janice, I wondered if one of the partners died, which caused the company to go into voluntary liquidation. I've finally had an intelligent response from Companies house, and will fork out to see who owned it @ £40 per company

Janice, That's all fantastic research. Would his father-in-law (if he hadn't died) have been Arthur Edward Williams, one of the founders of Turley & Williams in 1905 ?

He's also named on two Sidney Flaval patents, as Inventor, and on one with Henry Alfred Palmer of Leamington Spa

The patent submitted December 1934 is a Arthur Barnard Osborne, and then CD Smith on the patent submitted January 1935. When Companies house gets back to me, I'll know more about T&W (1925), along with British Safety Stove.

So if his Birthday was March, he would have been 77 on his death, wouldn't it ?

Janice, is there a confirmed date of death anywhere? With his being 76, if he died after March might shed some light.

Thanks That came up in post No 5. All this digging has confirmed that my interest lies in Charles Donald Smith, who (subject to responses from Companies House) owned T&W from 1935 to around 1954. The first patent with Sidney Flavel & Company of Leamington Spa combined with Smith is Oct 1954...

Thanks. I thought that when they developed Cadbury/Bournville, that you had to work there to live in their housing scheme? Even chocolate factories have machines for making the chocolate, as well as the tins to put the chocolates in. The first date for Smith at T&W on a patent is 1935. The...

Many thanks, Lyn. Am I right in thinking that if he lived at Bournville, then he worked at Bournville/Cadbury's as their metal works managing director?

I wonder if anyone can find his age or date of birth, please

It could be coincidence, but in 1970 a Charles Donald Smith of Bristol Road, Selly Oak left an estate of £79,000. Smith's last address on a 1959 patent is 928 Bristol Road, Selly Oak

Hi Janice, We've tried that, and it only reveals British Safety Stove Co. Ltd., but not Turley and Williams. The search at Companies house for Sidney Flavel doesn't show any results.

That's brilliant. Thank you. It's the page that I previously found, and then was unable to find again. I don't suppose you can find Turley & Williams during Charles Douglas Smith's time, which was taken over by Sidney Flavel of Leamington Spa, please?
