    The 'Woodman' West Bromwich

If I'm reading the below map correctly (assuming arrow points to the right pub) West Brom to the left of dashed line Bham to the right, then it appears to have been in Bham. Map is from 1959, link to full map below... https://maps.nls.uk/view/210967074#zoom=3.0&lat=3134&lon=2594&layers=BT

PTE Thomas SANKEY 14370 Worcestershire Regiment

As well as Samuel Thomas Sankey there is a Thomas Samuel Sankey b1887, who is listed as both Thomas and Samuel at times and appears to be a cousin. He was in the navy by 1911 and I think died in 1917 - HMS Amethyst.

With the journey time to London being only 50 minutes I'd guess that Bham Council (and to a lesser extent Solihull as well) are hoping that HS2 will attract the London commuters to the city to live in all these new city centre towers that are springing up. If that is any benefit for the...

PTE Thomas SANKEY 14370 Worcestershire Regiment

By 1911 his dad also seems to be dead. His youngest brother was in India, his sister appears to have emigrated to Canada, his eldest brother had also died and his remaining brother was married with 2 children.

Sadly as has been mentioned many times before when it comes to big projects benefits are always overestimated and cost and time underestimated. And these 'liars' never seem to face any sort of comeback and nor do the idiots who believed them.

Everything that has ever been built has destroyed something else. People who travel anywhere don't care about the people that that road/railway/airport they're using affected when it was built or worry about the lost ancient woodland that used to be where there house is. You can only try to...

PTE Thomas SANKEY 14370 Worcestershire Regiment

I think you given the wrong birth year. Should be 1885 instead of 1875? In 1921 possibly boarder (listed as Thomas) with wife of a Harry Southwick

Even though the dob doesn't match that of RAF record, the road matches 1911 census. So maybe.

I suspect it will be Thomas but we don't know. Johnson is too common to be sure without the right records.

Marriage certificate would be the best bet. Though you could take a chance of the Johnson/Wainwright birth certificate for the dob and see if it matches. I'd go for the marriage certificate. Maybe more expensive and slower but you know they are definitely your relatives.

That just proves that the dob of the William Johnson son of Nehemiah is not the same as that given on the RAF records of the William Johnson husband of Agnes Louisa, which we already knew. Assuming that there is no mistake then the William son of Nehemiah is not your William Johnson. And at...

You were probably talking about the birth certificate for William Johnson mmn Brown, not the marriage of his parents. However, we already know his birth date from his baptism which is on Ancestry. So his birth certificate would still be a waste of money.

    Johnson

Stop! The Johnson/Brown marriage is irrelevant until you know who William's father is. You need William Johnson's marriage to Agnes Louisa Moore from 1900.

No that's a William Bayliss. William Johnson & Agnes Louisa Moore married in 1900.

There's nothing wrong with the 1911 census. Ada was the daughter of William Johnson and Agnes Louisa Moore. It's from William to his father. The marriage certificate for William and Agnes is probably needed in this case to be sure. Johnson is just too common to be completely certain.

This video gives a good view of the sheer scale of the Curzon St construction. And on a side note photos/videos from drones are pretty amazing/

Not to throw a spanner in the works but how certain is it that Nehemiah was William's father? On the 1911 census William lists the streets where all his family were born and for William himself it was Clifton Road, Aston. Nehemiah's son William's birth was registered in Bham not Aston which in...
