Hi All.
I have so enjoyed reading this thread. Phils pictuires are great and I feel that the one, on Post 10, epitomises the changing age. The lady pushing the, not quite old fashioned, pram and the little girl pushing a similar dolls pram.. You rarely see dolls prams today as little girls must not grow up to believe that they will be wives and stay at home parents. Finally amidst all the vehicular traffic is a horse and cart. They must be amongst the last in Small Heath.
I was born and grew up in Carlton Road which was next to Victoria Street along Green Lane. I possibly knew the father of sistersue61. Perhaps we went to Somerville Road school together. I have great difficulty recalling names these days but I do recall a lad named Wilf in Victoria Street.
Jan, you probably went to Somerville Road school. If so do you remember a teacher Miss Hobday? She also was a pupil at the school in my day. Not many children grow up to be teachers in the school they attended.
