Hi Dave very good photos all of them, I recently joined the Derby Suez Vets and they are proposing buying their own standard for use on such
occaisions, as a exguardsman I would like to be the bearer, but have not one but two dodgy knees, which might rule that out. I still cant
see what right we have to be in these countrys, they have been tribal
for hundreds of years why should they change now to our way of life
take care now Bernard

Anything going on by the tree of life in the Bull Ring? There are some wreaths by it already - didn't know if there was anything going on?

This poem was written by a cyber pal she is in her late 70s & lives in Leicester
Jean.
This is my tribute to all who have fought and died in wars over the years.
God Bless them all.
All Will Be Remembered.

Remember all those who have fallen in wars within these last hundred years
Leaving behind their loved ones to grieve and shed their heartbroken tears.
Many thousands buried in other countries and some without a known grave
Sacrificing their lives fighting for freedom so that our lives they could save.

<img alt="Image">

Remember as you go about your daily routine what they all endured for you
And remember them all with pride in your heart in everything that you do.
Husbands, lovers, brothers, sons or uncle who lost his life in his freedom fight
They helped to quell the enemy and to bring the world hope and a ray of light.

<img width="200" border="0" height="200">

So each and every one of them were heroes who are remembered on this day
And may the good Lord keep them in his care and help the sorrow go away.
I wear my poppy with pride as I remember all nations that fought and died
They took on a mammoth task of freedom for all from which they never shied.

My poppy is a token of my deepest respect for all who gave me a full life
As well as those who fought in other wars to stem any ongoing strife.
YES I’m very proud to wear my poppy on this special Remembrance Day
God Bless the souls of all who lost their lives in any world wide affray.

Sad to say I read in the paper today about a Row going on because some Football Teams refused to wear Poppies on their shirts. Whatever next:(

Over heard in Morrisons yesterday the poppy seller said to a buyer "I am sorry but we are not allowed to pin them on for you as we might hurt you"
The mind boggles

Yes John another Supermarket has banned their staff from wearing the Poppy.:dft005:

Well I shall continue to wear my poppy with pride and respect at work.so far no-one has said we cannot, although we now have to wear our fob watches in a pocket in case we hurt someone.
This week and always remembering Thomas Taylor,John Henry Briscoe and Sidney Jackson( a Cornishman ,but part of my extended family)

Alf i would like to know as well.

I am also dismayed at the amount paid to the officers of the charity out of the donations.

WHY!

The war had come."Off to the front" the governmant said "go",
Into the muddy trenches, it's time to face the foe.
Forward lads! The signal, the sargeants whistle blew,
and then I killed that soldier, a lad I never knew.
Just a different language and from another land,
I thought then for a moment, I should have shook his hand,
for he was oh so frightened, on his face it could be seen.
In times of peace I'm sure, it's friends we could have been.
I know he had a family at home to grieve and cry,
and the memory of that deed I did will haunt me 'till I die.

This poem was written after I read a story about a german soldier who lived all his life regretting his actions during WW1. I was fortunate to have this poem printed in the RBL poetry book for all to see. Chocks

I see two teams left who have not agreed to wear a Poppy yet, Man Utd & Liverpool don't suppose they are getting paid

Re: Poppy Day ....

I did this yesterday. I hope you like it.

(An enormous thank-you to Frothy; without his help, it would never have been possible. Thanks Chris)

David what a wonderful piece of work. The video although very sad is a reminder to us all. It is beautifully photographed and produced. I noticed the name Goode from the Warwickshire regiment and the name Pritchard but couldn't see the regiment. How kind of you to take the time to do this for us. A lovely memorial to these hero's

Poppy Day ....

Thank you Wendy and Frothy.
Wendy, this is for you. Mr Pritchard was a 21-year-old RAF pilot.
