This old post still standing, I think it might be a old Gas Lamp ?, or a Vent ?

A sewer vent....I think, but I've seen something very similar at Morpeth, in Northumberland, where the vent had a gas-light head/mantle enclosed in a glass surround.......street lighting from the sewer's methane gas. Damned clever eh! I'd be really interested to know if this was indeed the case with yours???

Myself trying to find out what it is,

It`s a wonder it`s still standing, unless still used as a vent
