Hen and Chickens Hotel New Street

Dennis Williams

Gone but not forgotten
Couple of photos of old New Street......puzzled me a bit...two questions...

Is that road on the left where Stephenson Place is now? (No Tommy Attwood Statue)....
What is the name of the Hotel? with the ornate staue carvings over the Pillars...?

Cheers

No. Surely that is High St. The hotel is the swan, and to the right of the Swan is King Edwards School. See roofline on card below

Yes Jim You are right It ios worcester St. The hotel depends on the date, as before it was the Swan it was the Hen & chickens

Dennis : I think the "hotel" building you're referring to is in fact the New Street branch of the Joint Stock Bank .... picture attached.
