Hi, first time using this site so forgive me if I don't do it right. My father had a sewing machine shop in the 1950/60 era and it was number 104 Dale End. Could anyone tell me where this was and what is there now? Many thanks Karen

The roads have altered a rather since. Below is a 1950s map showing no 104 in red. I am pretty sure that the positiion of the front of the building would be the view on google below

Mikejee thank you so much for that. Will take a trip to Birmingham and have a wander around there. Much appreciated. Do you know where I could find photos of the shops that were there?

Sorry no. I do not seem to have one, do not think there is one on the forum, but you could try using the search function just in case

Coincidentally, there has recently been some posts on Facebook concerning 105 Dale End. The site specialises in identifying photos which are of unidentified scenes. The photo below was described as 105 Dale End (no town). Subsequently it was confirmed as Birmingham and that Peter Brun was there on census of 1921. Kellys showed it in the 1908 till 1915 editions as dining rooms being run by George Alfred Willetts, but in the 1921 edition as the owner being Peter Brun. He apparently was a very respected member of the Swiss community in Birmingham, as shown by his obituary below.
