Corner of New Street and Cannon Street

Just a quick query....for years I've noticed this funny sign on the impressive corner building at the bottom of Cannon Street.....what looks like the original sign's been replaced now and is simply a blank area.....but I just wondered if this original, almost Masonic looking jobby had any significance to the Building itself, or just a complex shop sign....? Anyone got any info? Cheerrs folks....

The sign looks like AR, for Austin Reed? Austin Reed were at 41 New Street from about 1914.

Before that time it was a Holroyd’s Woolen Warehouse from around 1856.

I though it was AR probably for Austin Reed. Part of their crest loked like the animal on the sign.
