Yes Lichfield Rd. will be along soon along with Aston Cross, and Thompson's a bit of cracklin yum yum and tomatoa sausage meat.

I received this picture of Aston Cross from Raymond Hawkley who I was with at St. Mary's in the 50's. If I can get a date for it I will let you know.

Isn't that the Golden Cross pub in the pic ? - Ansells Brewery would be behind the photographer on the right ? And the old ITV studios on the left further down the road ?

There was a photographic shop there too I think was called Pelling & Cross

Ray. Fabulous pictures there. A few weeks ago I asked if anyone had photos of Stretton Rd, and I am pretty sure that picture 4 in your first post is indeed Stretton Rd and not St. It looks very familiar to me. Anyway, thanks for sharing them, and if you have any more, feel free to post them. Barry.

Ray. Silly me. I have just had a closer look at that picture, and on the right hand side I can clearly see it says Stretton Road. As I say, I have been after a photo of this street for quite a while now, so thanks for that. Barry.

Dave I am sure thats from one of Olton Douglas's books, it look's 60's to me.

Ray, the photos of Wills Street and the one of Wills Street at the corner of Hunters Road brought back lots of memories. Thanks for posting them. I used to walk from Burbury Street, along Wills Street, down Hunters Road everyday on my way to work in Naden Road. Have you go anymore? Thanks again.

Hi Baz we lived at 43 Stretton Rd i think looking at Rays picture it was up the top on the left just before the road bent round to the right and joined Rockey lane

Hello instruct. Your right. The reason I was after a photo of the street is because my Nan & Grand-dad lived there for all the years I remember. I think they lived at No.22, so I can see the window in the picture. I have tried for ages to get a picture of this, as I used to visit them a couple of times a week, during my dinner break from Tubes Ltd in Rocky Lane, where I worked for 13 years before moving up here. Thats back in the 60s and 70s. Barry.

Great to see the pic's of Waterworks St and Union Rd Ray. Brought back fond memories from the early 60's. Well done keep 'em coming

Hi Instruct,

When we married in 1950 my wife and I lived for a few years at 3, Stretton Road. We were with my wifes' grandmother Mrs Mary Giddings. When were you there?

Chris Beresford (Old Boy)
