Technically Deritend was not a street name. There was High Street Deritend (on south side no 2 -54) which led into High Street Bordesley ( south side nos 56-112)
I hope that is reasonably clear. Here we are therefore looking for 72 High St Bordesley..
This was occupied by Samuel Woodley, as presumably you already know. The name of the pub is not listed in the 1871 or 1881 censuses or any directory, which was not uncommon in those years. It disappeared between 1890 and 1892, by when Hoskins and Sewell bedstead makers had taken over nos 71 -76 to expand their metallic bedstead factory previously at 77-83. This agrees with the pub not being in the 1891 census. However the next item in the 1881 census lists No 1 back 72 , but then adds “back Brittania”. Therefore the pub must have been named The Britttania
