What happened to Ernest Dryche Photography Birmingham?

I'm not sure when Ernest Dyche died but his son Malcolm retired in 1989, donated all of the photos to Birmingham Library and died in 1991. Considering Birmingham Libraries have held exhibitions of the work using derived images. That's probably the best place to ask about copyright.

    Typhoo Tea Factory plans

The BBC plans to move it's headquarters in Birmingham in 2026 https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/2022/broadcast-centre-birmingham They will only be using half of the building (the part that was formerly S Rose & Co) and the Business School in the other half will stay where it is. That was the...

Two new free events which must be booked

The second of these no longer has tickets available. From the title and description, it's a version of the Dyche and other photographs exhibition that was on at the central library earlier this year. The attached exhibition is advertised as on at the upstairs room at the back to backs so the...

    Help identifying where in Birmingham

The cards in the window say Wholesale and Export only so it's possible they're not going to advertise in Kelly's. Beyond that, you're looking at a business that is only named by cards in the window. It's unlikely they had been around that long when the picture was taken and it's even possible...

    Another Baskerville House

Walking down Hurst Street and looking across an expanse of ground that had recently been demolished I saw something I hadn't noticed before. There is a building called Baskerville House on Barford Street...

HM generally use .gov.uk for things although there are also a lot of functions that have been delegated to non-governmental organisations that could have any extension they want.

    Heritage Open Days September 2022

There is a Birmingham Heritage week regularly in September but they haven't announced their programme for this year yet. The listing should be available this Friday (5th August) on https://birminghamheritageweek.co.uk/

    Scams: telephone, email, texts 2022

What that means is that it's found a virus called "Linux.Mirai" and put it into their quarantine folder. From that you might be able to find out where it came from and you should be able to delete it safely.

    Moseley Kings Heath Line

The problem with that is that there was a Camp Hill station before and it was in a space that could probably take a station again if the line is successful.

    Queens Coronation 1953

There seem to have been a lot of souvenir books from the coronation. My mother had a grey hardback book. I scanned a few of the pictures thinking they might be wanted for the Jubilee but nothing came of it.

    Birmingham Cinemas

Most of the ones that were converted to multiplexes were converted in the 80s or 90s. It seems like most new cinemas are built as multiplex except for the odd few that run IMAX movies only (e.g. Millennium point) or the odd independent.

    Moseley Road Baths

The baths have been getting grants of late. This is the press release for the most recent of them. https://www.wmf.org/press-release/moseley-road-baths-transformational-masterplan-moves-forward. Some of the statements about the baths status may not be accurate especially the bit about the only...

King Edwards Grammar School Camp Hill

Two of the King Edward's Schools in Birmingham are paired (two schools close to each other, one boys, one girls). The main school and Camp Hill have had that for over a century. There used to be two schools together on Stratford Road before the move to Kings Heath. There are also Boy's schools...

    78rpm Record Player

For what it's worth, when they started "bringing back vinyl" they also started making separate record players and most of them seem to play 78s if you have them. Nowadays the price on these players has gone up and they also play cassettes and CDs. You used to be able to get them for £30 and now...

Various possiblities. One is some idiot has sent this out without thinking or is just joking. The apps that run in browsers are cloud based so, if you have a file that you want to work on, you would need to have the app accessible. The larger that app is the more likely it is to fail or hang if your connection isn't stable. Some apps are so large that they could not work on the cloud as...

Odd spelling mistakes can be part of a different kind of game. If you've ever been passed something on FaceBook that either has a couple of odd spelling mistakes or is just an image and asked to share it there's a trick to it.
