Hello, I'm a history student at the University of Birmingham, currently writing a project on St Paul's Square. Part of the project involves collecting oral histories from occupants of the area. I wondered if anyone had any memories or stories of the area that have stuck with them? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Some time in 1978 I started working for S Rose & Co who sold wholesale clothing and a few other things. At that time their main building was on the corner of Lionel Street and Ludgate Hill. They also had sections of the business in buildings on the other side of Ludgate Hill. The main building Not long after I started, an ex-employee broke into the main building at night and, to provide some light, he'd set fire to a jacket or something. The fire spread and that building burned down. The company moved over to the other building shortly after that. The burned building was demolished and became a garage for a while. After a year or so Rose's moved to Bordesley St on the other side of town.
Not quite St Paul's Square but close. I don't know if that would mean anything to you.
