HS2 progress 2020 and beyond

For the majority of folk in the UK this will be of little use and is seen as a waste of money. Linking two cities, which are not very representative of the UK- other that some large cities plus the focus of Manchester assuming a focal point - it seems that more money, north of Birmingham, will be mooted in the future.

I think it can benefit people other than those in Bham & London. For the people in between it would be like a big railway bypass that will free up rail capacity on the existing lines for them - for both local journeys and to London, just as a town bypass frees up roads for residents of the town bypassed who never use it.

For people north of Bham hopefully in the future the line will be extended. I can't imagine the cost to build from Bham to Manchester would be anywhere near as much as London to Bham. I can also imagine that it could be so who know. :confused:
