You are correct, I got him mixed up with someone else. The photo is of Joe "Joeby" Butler who was awarded the OBE for his improvements to the tank designs. Photo from the BRCW Archive.If the supervisor had been a civilian then it would have been the George Cross, but that also would have only been awarded to conspicuous gallantry not in the presence of the enemy.
