Born a Brummie
We have visitors at the moment and they have been most impressed with all the kind help from my "cyber" pals and have asked if I would try with their family name so I said I'd give it a go as I am sure someone will come up with an answer

The Taylor family lived in Aston. there was CLIVE, SYDNEY, EDITH and ALFRED. Clive was the father of my cousin and she has never known her grandparents names. Can someone help please? :)

Many thanks: :D

Hi again Rowan,
the only Clive Taylor that i can find in the timescale born in the area.
1901 census 6 George Terrace,Tevor st. Aston (ST Clements)
Harry Taylor age 40 b birmingham Filer in Electro plate trade.
Louisa age 35
Harry 8
Sydney 7
Clive 6 (second christian name Douglas)
James A 4 (second christian name Alfred)
Edith May 6 months Dorothy Annie 6 months (same registration reference they are definately twins.)
Have a feeling it might be them!
regards Alberta.

.Harry Taylor married Louisa DOILE in 1889 ref 6d 138 ,given that Louisa was 35 in 1901 I found on the birth index a Louisa D'Oyly born 1866 Aston.
Checking Clive Douglas Taylor birthcertificate will verify, ref 6d 345.

Hi, I’m the granddaughter of Clive Douglas Taylor. I have been trying to follow my tree but am struggling!
The above info was amazing, thank you, however I can’t seem to get a marriage certificate for his parents- no matches. I’m trying to find his Grandparents names as I believe online of his grandmothers was Welsh from the Swansea area possibly ( I have a picture of her in full national costume).
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it Appreciate it! Thank you in advance

If you mean the marriage of Harry Taylor and Louisa then Alberta gives a possible reference in post #4. But does suggest checking Charles birth cert for confirmation

I'm not sure it is right as the only Clive Douglas Taylor I found seemed to be reg with mmn Jones. I then wondered if Louisa was a widow when she married Harry

The Clive Douglas Taylor whose parents were Harry and Louisa, born 24th January 1895, married Jane Latchford in 1929 and they had a daughter
Gwendoline M in 1935. Clive died in 1940.
Do any of these people fit your tree Beverley.

Yes absolutely- Gwen was my mom!

That Clive Douglas birth is reg with mmn Jones (might fit the Welsh connection) which is why I wondered if Louisa Jones became Louisa Doile (Doyle?) and then Taylor.

Ooo that’s really interesting! My mom always said Clive was very close to his Grandmother, but not his mother, I was informed that he regularly visited her in Wales.
It sounds like from what you’re saying Louisa remarried - I’ve no idea. Clive had 2 older brothers and 3 younger siblings, I wonder if Clive , Harry ijunior and Syd were born with Louisa Jones and not Harry Taylor’s children. Or am I just getting it all muddled ( I’m quite new to all this family tree info).

I think we have wrong marriage in earlier posts.
1911 census says married 20 years. That makes marriage 1891 and there is a marriage of a Harry Taylor and Louisa Jones reg in Aston in 1891. So that needs checking out.
In which case ignore my comments about Louisa marrying twice.
